TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF HIRE
INSURANCE OPTIONS
OPTION ONE:
- NO INSURANCE EXCESS COVER
The security deposit is $5000NZD on Credit Card
Please note Credit Card payments will be processed immediately. The security deposit will be returned upon the satisfactory return of the vehicle. (Ie No accident damage, returned on time, refueled, and in a clean and tidy condition. Damage to Windscreens, Tyres, and the cost of puncture repairs is the responsibility of the hirer).
OPTION TWO:
- EXCESS REDUCTION COVER
The security deposit is reduced to $1500NZD ($2500 < 25 years) upon payment of $25 per day added to the daily rental tariff (maximum charge 50 days). Includes free windscreen cover

- PEACE OF MIND COVER
The security deposit is reduced to $250NZD ($1250 < 25 years) upon payment of $35 per day added to the daily rental tariff (maximum charge 50 days). Includes free windscreen cover

Please note: Saltwater damage or damage resulting from immersion in water is not covered by the above insurance options.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
While all our vehicles can be driven on all legal formed roads, it is important the hirer understand All Insurance Protection will be negated should the hirer/driver take our drive our vehicles on the following roads and will therefore be liable for all damage incurred
-Ninety Mile Beach, Northland
-Colville Township to Port Jackson Coromandel
-309 Rd Coromandel
-Skippers Road Queenstown
-Crown Range between Cardrona and Arrowtown, Queenstown
-Ball Hut Road, Mt Cook
DAILY HIRE CHARGES
All hire charges include New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST), Unlimited mileage, linen and cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery
HIRE PERIOD
Minimum hire charge/duration is 14 days.
Your Kombi is available from 10am on your first day of hire, and should be returned no later than 3pm on the last day. Late returns are charged at double rates plus costs. Days of hire are the actual calendar days you have it.
PAYMENTS
NZ$500 required to secure booking. The balance of the hire payment is due 14 days prior to pick up.
DRIVERS LICENSE
The driver and hirer must produce a valid driver’s license. National Aus, SA, USA, Can and Europe or International permit are requested. Two drivers maximum
MINIMUM AGE
The driver and the hirer must be over 21 years of age with three years minimum driving experience
DRIVING YOUR KOMBI
All our Kombi Campers have a manual gearbox.
Manual gearbox driving experience is required
ANIMALS
Sorry- due to health and safety reasons, no pets are allowed in the vehicles.
SMOKING
Our vans are smoke-free zones. Please smoke outside the vehicle only
FUEL
The fuel tank will be full on pickup and must be returned full. Drop-off refuel charged to Hirer
DRIVING FINES
If you are fined or penalised for breaking any traffic law, you pay the fine
WINDSCREEN DAMAGE
Windscreen damage is the responsibility of the hirer.
PLEASE NOTE
Kiwi Kombis reserve the right to alter rates and terms without notice. The business takes no responsibility for any detention, delay, loss, damage or injury that a Hirer might experience no matter how it is caused or by whom.
SUPPLY
If for any reason beyond our control the reserved vehicle cannot be supplied on pick-up a substitute will be offered. Should a substitute not be available our liability is limited to a full refund of monies received by Kiwi Kombis. All rights are reserved to refuse any hire under any circumstance. No refunds are payable on accommodation, or Kombis not being available when a Hirer or passenger amends, cancels, or seeks to vary agreement after departure.
BOND
This is held subject to the terms and conditions of the contract e.g., when you return the vehicle, your bond is returned in full if it is acceptably clean and there is no damage to it (including Windscreen damage) its contents or any third-party property. It also may be used for fuel top ups and traffic/parking/camping fines. The bond covers you for the first accident. If you have another accident or the vehicle is damaged, then you will be liable for a further bond. The rates and prices quoted are in New Zealand dollars and are subject to change without notice.
Cancellations
There is an administration fee of $250 for bookings cancelled after reservations have been confirmed. If reservations are cancelled 21-15 days prior to pick up there is a $500 cancellation fee. Once full payment has been made (14 days prior to pick-up) there is a 50% cancellation fee. There is a 100% cancellation fee on “no show”. Vans will be rehired after 3 days if you “no show”. No refunds are given after your hire has commenced.
Problems
If you have any difficulties report these immediately to Kiwi Kombis. If you incur any minor repair bills, we will give you a refund (up to $200). Just produce your receipt at the completion of your hire. Retrospective claims above this limit cannot be recognised. If you have an accident (or breakdown) you pay any accommodation expenses. Kiwi Kombis liability extends to either replacing your vehicle with a similar one or refunding your hire charge for any days you lose the total use of the vehicles.
